Review: This astute compilation brings together new tracks from: Mr. Projectile, Lackluster, PP Roy, ThinkToy and an array of new artists. Starting with the more well known contributors, Toytronics Mr. Projectiles fantastic Gonna Make You Sweat illustrates precisely why the mans output to date has become so collectable. A delicious hybrid of fast paced intricacies and seriously fat crunchy beats, the melodies glide with an ethereal sensibility that appeal to the most emotive of senses and memories, but doing so through reinforced blue-tinted spectacles. Ace. Rephlex beatmeister PP Roy unleashes another hip-hopesque break/sample oddeyssey, all squashed and full-bodied beats, the samples are distinctly lounge/jazz based providing a momentary intermission from all things IDM. Lacklusters Mes finds us in more blissed-out terrain, lovely lilting melodies and playful keys, the melancholy: childlike ratio retaining an endearing parity that sits snugly in-between perfectly executed beats. Mr. Projectile returns once again on Burrito, flowering with an Autechre-ish ambient key sequence that falls into a lovingly deep sequence of bass stabs and metallic samples. Reflective, melancholy and delicately lush in the most dreamy sense. The newcommers on board add much food for thought, starting with Sir Cut Breakers truly ace Detroit/Delsin vibed breaksynth assault, gliding through U-Fear-Is excellent dusty hiphopisms and through to Heels Ov The Breads delicious blue dubisms. 17 tracks wide, hopefully an indication of whats to follow on this promising new label.
