act R.S.A.G. has been shortlisted for the Choice Music Prize 2008
for his groundbreaking debut album ORGANIC SAMPLER. R.S.A.G. released his debut double album ORGANIC SAMPLER in November. Irish music lovers rejoiced and the media tipped their collective hat to this mesmerizing and totally unique artist. R.S.A.G. is Jeremy Hickey. He is a multi-instrumentalist who records, performs and produces all his own material. Live, R.S.A.G. plays drums / percussion and sings. The backing tracks are recorded in his studio. Visually, he has created a virtual band which is projected on a screen behind him. Think of Joy Division, Talking Heads, Fela Kuti, New York rockers ESG with the visual impact of Gorillaz. But rather than the use of animation, he aspires to a sort of shadowplay; a show of silhouettes of himself, which he utilises on disc. This is so much more than just music, it is a friendly, full-sensory virus with no known cure. Apart from many clubnight and organic underground appearances, 2008 has brought a main support to The Fall in the Spiegeltent. He also headlined the Body and Soul Arena at Electric Picnic '08 where he was joined on stage by fans Liam O'Maonlaigh and Ronan O'Snodaigh. Today FM's Donal Dineen invited R.S.A.G. to headline his sold out 'Small Hours' party at The Pavillion in Cork in December. The year was signed off with a live performance on 'Other Voices' alongside Elbow, Hugh Cornwell, Eric Bibb & many other prolific names, which will be screened on RTE this Spring. So far, 2009's diary holds a nationwide Irish tour with a sprinkling of requested European dates beginning in March. Already a remix album of ORGANIC SAMPLER tracks is on the horizon with interest flooding in from both Irish and international producer / DJs. RTE 2 are currently recording a documentary on R.S.A.G. which will be screened later this year as part of a new series " The Raw Sessions". 2008 has been a fabulous year for R.S.A.G. Nippi Records, a commercial chillout division of Psychonavigation, has released a compilation CD titled 'Sundazed' (nothing to do with any club nights by a similar name).
The 'Sundazed' CD is the label's first release and has been described as a "definitive ambient chillout compilation" with its collaborations with Irish and international artists. The most notable of these include Beat Foundation, half of which is Groove Armada's Andy Cato.

JUN 2008: PSYCHONAVIGATION RECORDS HOSTS CHILLOUT ARENA AT PLANETLOVE SUMMER SESSION 2008!!
Psychonavigation (the home of ambience in Ireland, 2FM) have been invited to host the official chillout arena for this year's Planetlove Summer Session. The event takes place on Saturday 21st June at Fairyhouse Racecourse, Ratoath, Co. Meath. The festival hosted by Planetlove & 2FM has certainly built up a beautiful reputation for supplying clubbers with plenty of homegrown talent mixed with International guests. The choice to dedicate a whole area to not just DJ's but also live Ambient/Electronic music has pleased all at Psychonavigation HQ. So what have we got planned for all you chillers?
Well we just could not ask the world's most gifted chillout DJ in the world could we? So we called on the legend that is Mixmaster Morris (Ninja Tune, Big Chill). The man who shouldn't need a big introduction but for whom remain uneducated to all things Irresistible - Morris who has been named the natural successor to the mighty John Peel headlines the chill area! The man is a walking encyclopedia of musical knowledge. His djing sets take in everything from Chillout - Electronica - Funk - Breakbeat all perfectly executed.
Morris is joined by his good friend and fellow Nubient DJ - Danny Johnstone. Danny has been busy lately helping the legendary group Coldcut with their live visual showcase. He has kindly volunteered his talent of mixing up amazing music with glorious visuals. Which leads us on to a fantastic live musician by the name of Enrico Coniglio. The Venice based musician has released two records on Psychonavigation to critical acclaim and he has an exclusive set prepared for Plantelove.
The homegrown talent serves up live sets form 3 of Psychonavigation's freshest talents: first up R.S.A.G. (Rarely Seen Above Ground) - a one man band soaking up influences as diverse as Joy Division, Talking Heads with the visual impact of the Gorillaz. A truly great live show is imminent. Ciaran Byrne (a name you may be familiar with perhaps) has been busy working on his new album for the label 'Nine Lives Causeway' will deliver a live montage of new and old material for your enjoyment. Fans of Boards of Canada will be smiling from ear to ear!
So that leaves one more live set and it's a goody - Alphamono aka Paddy McGovern takes us on a trip down the road of bands like Air, Super Furry Animals, Daft Punk... and delivers his own original style - after his recent IMRO showcase gig recently he's rared up for another explosive set.
So that leaves last but not least the main man behind Psychonavigation, DJ Keith Downey, who manages to balance running an independent record label, A&R duties, radio show on Spin 1038. Alongside other Psychonavigation DJ's, he starts the proceedings with a crate of early ambient and drum n bass perfectly chilled and ready to be unleashed. We kick at 1pm and rock till 1am.

Anne Garner, Sheffield singer/songwriter releases a remix album of her songs 'Re-Making The Pearl' on Psychonavigation later this month. Remade/remodelled by DJ's, musicians and remixers such as Mixmaster Morris, Richard H Kirk, The Pylon King, Dean Honer, etc.
The release date for this CD is 29th October 2005, but copies can be pre-ordered through this website from 17th October.
The launch night for this release will take place during the Psychonavigation Showcase as part of this year's DEAF festival (event details below).
