ZEN PARADOX - 'NUMINOSUM' [EEM02 LP/CD] EEM are proud to announce their latest artist on the team, Zen Paradox, with their first release in over 8 years.Steve Law has been experimenting with electronic music since 1983, co-formed the group Foil in May 1990.Foil started out as a noisy electronic-based group, drawing on seminal industrial groups such as Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire as influences. By 1991/92, Steve Law was writing much more electronic basedmusic for the band, this was the birth of Zen Paradox with the first live performance at Switch (later tobecome Club Filter) in mid 1992 and became one of Australia's very first live techno artists, releasing a debut LP on Ollie Olsen's Psy-Harmonics label and sequentially being signed as the debut artist on Nova Zembla, sub-label KK records. Zen Paradox has gone on to release numerous recordings to international acclaim, and has toured extensively overseas since 1994. Colaboration projects include Ollie Olsen, Voiteck, Atom Heart, Tetsu Inoue, Riou,Speedy J, Alistair Riddell, Self Transforming Machine Elves, Monolake, Bochum Welt,Terence Ho, Viridian, Paul Abad, Ai Yamamoto, High Pass Filter, Andrew Garton,Black Cab and Kazu Kimura. Steve continues to work on more experimental electronic composition, and in 1996 won the ABC FMcomputer composition award with his piece "Urbania". He has contributed sound installations to various Melbourne arts festivals, and has been commisioned to compose music for dance (including the 1998 Danceworks production "Distance" performed at the Next Wave festival). He has also composed music for several short films and multi-media projects, including Troy Innocent's 'Life Signs' at ACMI and Ars Electronica (2004). In recent months has developed a particular interest in the 5.1 surround sound format, which has resulted in a number of audio-visual multi-channel performances at various events including the Melbourne Fringe festival, Electro-Fringe (Newcastle) and the Sustainable Living Festival at ACMI. Steve Law/Zen Paradox was the winner of the best live electronic act at the 2000 Australian Live Music.
