Psychonavigation Records latest project is a unique collaboration with the world famous music programme 'An Taobh Tuathail'. The plan is to release a CD compilation of electronic music that perfectly reflects the diverse music style of the radio show. So here it is, a twelve track CD compilation which has been painstakingly selected by An Taobh Tuathail's founder Cian Ó Cíobháin. A beautiful blend of ambient/electronic sounds from some of the world's finest producers.

Background on the radio show:
The radio show has been broadcasting the cream of underground music from around the globe on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta/Anocht FM since May 1999. Cian Ó Cíobháin who has been presenting the show since its very first broadcast, presents the show Mondays to Fridays, 11pm-1am.

Reviews:

"The record is a veritable goldmine of quiet, hitherto-unacknowledged gems, which really do merit greater exposure."
- Hot Press review by Kilian Murphy 7.5/10

" As an introduction to one of the country's best alternative radio shows… An Taobh Tuathail Vol 1 is essentially flawless. Shivers down the spine guaranteed."
- METRO Album Of The Week by Eamon De Paor

"
… this show is one of the most important outlets for underground Irish artists and in particular those in the leftfield electronic genre, really beautiful from start to finish"
- Road Records

"Speaking of compilations, An Taobh Tuathail, one of the best music shows on the Irish airwaves, release a compilation on Psychonavigation, featuring the kind of music the show is lauded for championing."

"Cian O'Ciobhain's compilation trawls the outer reaches of abstract electronica, with the string-soaked neo-classical beauty of OST, Fug and Phelan Sheppard's contributions standing out."
- Richard Brophy, Hot Press

"While the 12 tracks collected together on this disc stick close to the lower BPMs, one of the first things that impresses is the sheer diversity of approach displayed by the featured artists, no doubt a reflection of Ciobhain’s own eclectic programming selections. An Taobh Tuathail Volume 1 certainly provides a suitably wide-ranging intro to the more downbeat end of Ciobhain’s radio sets that also manages to expose the work of a number of lesser-known Irish artists alongside a slew of more immediately recognisable names."

Felix Laband:
The music of South Africa's premier electronic musician is fluid and deceptively simple, freakish, quirky but user-friendly, funky and day-dreamy. Polyphonic funk like the sound-adventures of Warp´s “Boards Of Canada“, “Autechre“ or “Aphex Twin“ and measures at the same time the dope downtempo flavour of their label-mates “Nightmares On Wax“. If one had to categorise the musical style of Felix Laband he would have to create a new genre called "Indietronica". There's a level of professionalism in his work that is breathtaking. www.openrecord.co.za/felixlaband.html

Ariel Pink:
Ariel Pink (born Ariel Marcus Rosenberg on June 24, 1978) is an avant-garde/hauntology musician who is based in Los Angeles. Pink has been recording his music on tape since 1996 but it wasn't until after he passed a CD-R to the New York-based band Animal Collective that his commercial musical career took off. He has since caught the attention of various media sources, especially in the Los Angeles area. As most of his albums are self-made, many of them have never been heard by fans. The only albums which have been commercially released come from his "Haunted Graffiti" series and are thus the best known. www.myspace.com/arielpink

Cane 141:
The group Cane 141 have released two albums and five singles to date and sporadically highlight these releases with live shows centred around their own marriage of electronic and organic sounds. Their sound is at times experimental, electronica with a smooth production edge, mixing atmospheric vocals with eclectic instrumentation. Radio 1’s Rob Da Bank is already a fan of this new material, and has been playing it on his Blue Room and One Music shows - as is the legendary Steve Lamacq, who has featured “Joe Meek Shall Inherit the Earth” (from the 7" EP) on his Radio 1 show. The "Moon Pool" album has also received a nomination for the prestigious Irish Mercury Music Prize.

Phelan Sheppard:
Keiron Phelan and David Sheppard make records together and separately under various guises. Their most recent album together, harps old master, was released last year on the leaf label and features Phelan and Sheppard playing nylon string guitars, double bass, various woodwinds, xylophones, keyboards and electronics, while spanish singer Ines Naranjo also coats several songs with vocals. www.myspace.com/phelansheppard

Fug:
Their only full-length LP, Ready For Us is arguably one of the touchstones of the live cinematic breaks movement that really took a foothold in the UK in the late-90s. Utilizing guitars, bass, drums, keys, strings, horns and the occassional vocalist, Fug threw down one of the finest and most underrated records of 2001, lost among Nuphonic's roster of House producers www.shivarecords.com
